The 1208 Foundation has always been at the forefront of supporting vital causes, and our recent efforts have been particularly focused on the aftermath of the Afghanistan withdrawal. As a veteran nonprofit organization, we understand the complexities and challenges faced during such critical times.
June: A Monumental Month for Afghan Resettlement
June was a landmark month for us at the 1208 Foundation. We took the lead in bringing 47 individuals from Afghanistan to the United States, an incredible achievement that was made possible through the support of various Afghanistan NGOs and a dedicated team of our Afghan allies. This effort was spearheaded by “Dave”, a quieter yet equally effective Green Beret, embodying the spirit and dedication of special forces veterans.
Our team currently includes seven Afghan nationals, who provide invaluable assistance on a full or part-time basis. Their identities remain concealed for safety reasons, but their contributions are immeasurable. This endeavor is not just about relocation; it's about giving hope and new beginnings to those who have left their homeland behind.
The SIV Program: Overcoming Challenges
The Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program, despite being bogged down and inefficient, has been a critical pathway for many. Our success in navigating these challenges for 47 individuals is a testament to our commitment and the robust network of support from veteran NGOs and individuals passionate about Afghan donation and assistance.
Looking Ahead: The Big Event in August
Building on our momentum, we are preparing for what may be the biggest Afghanistan-centric event of the year. Scheduled for August 15th at Georgetown University, the 1208 Foundation, in collaboration with the Moral Compass Federation and other Afghanistan NGOs, is set to make a significant impact.
Gaston Hall, a venue that has hosted Presidents and foreign dignitaries, will be our gathering place. The event's speaker lineup includes esteemed figures like LTG John Mulholland, Ambassador Ronald Neumann, and Jack McCain, highlighting the continued involvement and support from the special forces and veteran communities.
Furthermore, notable Afghan figures such as Sami Sadat and Ali Maisam Nazary will be making appearances, alongside several prominent members from the NGO, veteran, and Afghan communities. An exclusive screening of a short documentary featuring our organization's efforts will set the stage for an enlightening and inspiring evening.
Join Us and Make a Difference
This event isn't just a gathering; it's a call to action for those who want to contribute to Afghan donation initiatives and support the ongoing efforts of veteran nonprofits. Your presence and participation can make a real difference.
We invite you to join us at this seminal event.
